The information below is the official guide however we advise guests to contact their accommodation directly to be advised of the correct rate for their stay - climate replaces previous taxes in place and is the only tax that guests need to pay in relation to tourism.
Article 24
Climate crisis resilience fee – Amendment of article 53 of Law 4389/2016
The climate crisis resilience fee is imposed per daily use and per room or apartment, during the months of April to October, as follows:
For main hotel accommodations
*1-2 stars, two (2.00) euros, per room per night
*** 3 stars, five (5.00) euros, per room per night
**** 4 stars, ten (10.00) euros, per room per night
***** 5 stars, fifteen (15.00) euros per night
Villa rates between €8 - €15 per night depending on property size.
(Tourist accommodations in architectural heritage buildings, youth hostels, campsites continue to be exempt)
Visitors to Greece and the islands will be required to pay the tax at their accommodation on arrival.
The amounts are based on the official rating of the establishment and are subject to change.
Tourist taxes cannot be included in the holiday prices quoted by tour operators and travel agents and must be paid locally and in local currency.
